We’re delighted to announce that Agnes Bezerra, a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Engineering, has been named Health and Safety Leader for September 2023.

We are pleased to recognize Jean Lapointe, who is senior director of Project Management and Construction at Facilities, University of Ottawa, for his outstanding commitment to safety leadership within his construction team.

Thanks to the efforts of senior graduate student Niki Mavragani and post-doc and lab manager Alexandros Kitos, the Murugesu Lab has won the 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� Safety Leader Award for July 2023. The lab personnel were commended on their diligence, initiative, and contribution to significantly enhancing the safety of their workplace.

We’re delighted to announce that Simone Julien-Sparks, lead coordinator, fitness, has been named Health and Safety Leader of for June 2023 at 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ�. Thanks to her excellent hazard recognition and risk mitigation efforts, she took a leadership role in identifying hazardous temperatures and outdoor air quality conditions well before the real impact was felt and took action to alter programming.

The Office of the Chief Risk Officer has recently introduced an initiative to recognize the commitment of support staff and professors to workplace health and safety. The Health and Safety Leader award honours support staff and professors who exemplify the core principles outlined in Policy 77 — Occupational Health and Safety and help advance health and safety in their own areas of responsibility.
