Important dates and deadlines

The promotional period for the Exchange Program (Regular or Consortium) for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 will start at the beginning of September 2025.

If you are interested in participating in the exchange for the Fall 2026 and/or Winter 2027 terms, the following deadlines apply:

  • Regular Exchange and Consortium Exchange (Killam, CLIC):
    • To be announced: Deadline to submit your preliminary course selection for your first choice destination (Regular Exchange) or your choices of courses for your three choice of destination (Consortium Exchange), to your faculty.
    • January 17, 2026: Deadline to submit a complete application through the uoZone International Exchanges application.

Step 1: Determine if you鈥檙e eligible

To be eligible for a regular exchange, you must:鈥

  • Be an undergraduate or Master's student in one of the following faculties:鈥
    • 础谤迟蝉鈥
    • 贰苍驳颈苍别别谤颈苍驳鈥
    • Law (Common Law or Civil Law)鈥
    • 厂肠颈别苍肠别鈥
    • Social Sciences鈥
    • Health Sciences鈥

Note: If you鈥檙e a student at the Telfer School of Management, the Faculty of Medicine or the Faculty of Education (undergraduate), contact your faculty for information on mobility programs it offers.

  • Be enrolled in a regular program when you apply and before your exchange.鈥
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or an international student admitted to a regular undergraduate or graduate program at the University of Ottawa.鈥
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5.0鈥(C+). Please note that for some destinations, you need a CGPA of 6.0 (B). For Civil Law or Common Law, you need a CGPA of 5.0 (C+) unless otherwise indicated.鈥
  • Be in good academic standing. You must maintain the required CGPA until your departure. Otherwise, your exchange will be cancelled.鈥
  • No disciplinary measures, no academic fraud or other disruptive conduct allegations or findings;
  • No financial hold on student file;
  • If you鈥檙e an undergraduate student, you must have completed, or received advanced standing for, 24 units by the application deadline.鈥
  • If you鈥檙e a graduate student, you can apply starting in your first year of studies. You must follow the same application process as undergraduate students.
  • If you鈥檙e studying Civil Law or Common Law, please contact your Faculty to determine when you are eligible to apply.

Before or during your exchange (as applicable), you must:鈥

  • Participate in one of our mandatory workshops before your departure.  
  • Enrol as a full-time student at your host university.
  • Be enrolled in courses that count towards your 91精品黑料吃瓜 program of study.鈥

A note on competitive destinations:

A destination becomes competitive when there are too many applications for the number of places available. An impartial selection committee will be formed. Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

CGPA: 45%
Letter of Motivation: 45%
搁别蝉耻尘茅: 10%

Killam Fellowships Program

This program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students (other than those in professional programs) to spend either one term or a full academic year as an exchange student in the United States at one of the鈥.

Funding

  • One term: US$ 6,000鈥
  • Two terms: US$ 12,000鈥
  • Students participating in this program also receive a University of Ottawa mobility scholarship.鈥

The Killam applications are managed by the Student Mobility Team, but you must also apply directly with that consortium.

If you鈥檙e applying for the Killam Fellowships Program, complete the steps in the鈥. Make sure you have all the required documents. If you don鈥檛 submit all the documents by the deadline, you won鈥檛 be eligible.鈥

Note: Only Canadian citizens are eligible for the Killam Fellowships Program.

CLIC - Canada Learning Initiative in China

connects Canadian students with funded opportunities to study in China. Through CLIC you stay on track to earn credits toward your degree, but with the added, life-long benefits of an immersive cultural experience.

Funding

Financial support for travel and study in China, which includes:

  • 3000 yuan (鈮$600CAN) per month stipend
  • Subsidized accommodation
  • Contact us to find out if the program you are interested in has free accommodations
  • Free medical insurance
  • No CSC application fees
  • Administrative support for finding accommodations and other practical aspects, including risk management

Note: Only Canadian citizens are eligible for CLIC support.

You must also submit an application to CSC - Chinese Scholarship Council.

The administrative fee for these programs is $106. This is a one-time charge, even if you make more than one application. You must鈥痓y the deadline.

Fees are not refundable.

Students participating in these programs also receive a University of Ottawa mobility scholarship.鈥
