Colonel By Hall, named after Lieutenant-Colonel John By, founder of Bytown (Ottawa) and supervisor the construction of the Rideau Canal, is a multi-storey, multi-wing building that opened in 1970. Colonel By Hall is home to the Faculty of Engineering and houses the Departments of Chemical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and the School of Information Technology and Engineering. Classrooms, computer labs, science labs, offices, and study spaces are located throughout.
