A gateway to excellence in higher education 

Asian countries made substantial investments in their higher education systems, focusing on improving the quality of education and research infrastructure. Consequently, several Asian universities are ranked among the top institutions globally, attracting domestic and international students. By forging strong partnerships with Asian institutions, we aim to build education programs and develop collaborative research initiatives to address the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

At 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ�, nearly 30% of our students are international, and 45% are from Asia.  We’re proud of our diverse, multicultural student population, which fosters a learning environment with different perspectives to prepare students to be global citizens.

Here is a list of scholarships:  

• Awards Chinese government scholarships exclusively for international students in its various affiliated universities. Students can apply for CSC scholarships between December and April, according to the dates specified by the university in question. 
• : Provides students from ASEAN countries with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian postsecondary institutions at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• : For an international student from either Africa or India enrolled in a program at the School of Nursing who has demonstrated financial need.
• : To provide financial assistance to international students from India in the MBA program at the Telfer School of Management in urgent financial need.
• : This program welcomed more than 1000 fellows to Canada from developing countries to study and train in fields relevant to the development priorities of their home countries.
• short-term exchange programs for Canadians and international students.
• : the recipients are placed as visiting scholars and do not involve formal enrolment at a Canadian university.

The value of individual bursaries will depend on the level of the financial assistance required and on the availability of funds. We reserve the right to limit the number of the awards.

Some of our most recent partnerships include:

• Renewal of the Research Chair in Taiwan Studies: The Faculty of Social Sciences extended its collaboration with Taiwan’s Ministry of Education on May 31, 2021. This partnership will continue to enhance and develop the quality of research and teaching in Taiwan Studies at the Faculty and broadly disseminate knowledge of the politics, economy, external relations, history, society, languages and culture of Taiwan. Chair activities will include the supervision of graduate students and an annual public Taiwan Studies Lecture Series. 
• : Provides a limited number of early career researchers with the opportunity to conduct research in Japanese universities and in designated research institutions and laboratories. NSERC is responsible for recommending Canadian nominees. 
• KAKEHASHI Project: To promote people-to-people exchange between Japan and nations worldwide, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan offer Friendship Ties Programs, which send approximately 5,600 people to or from Japan each year. This program sparks greater engagement between the youth from Japan and Canada to contribute to the SDG development.
• The Faculty of Engineering has implemented changes to its 3+1+1 collaborations with China, which include more direct communication with partners. The faculty has memoranda of understanding and 3+1+1 collaborative programs with 14 Chinese universities. 
• Partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University: The University of Ottawa is increasing cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The joint Shanghai-Ottawa Medical School is one example. According to the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the joint school is a pioneer in integrating Chinese and North American medical education and exploring new medical education practices. The program is approved and recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
  
  A joint bachelor’s in clinical medicine has also been established between University of Ottawa and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Many program students have graduated, finding meaningful positions and contributing to medical science. 
  
  The University has also built partnerships in other fields, such as law, at all levels from bachelor’s to doctorates.
