Dr. Nurjehan Mawani, lawyer, public servant, diplomat and global Canadian, and current senior fellow and inaugural chair in global engagement at Massey College, spoke at the University of Ottawa February 20, as part of the uOInternational Dialogues and Insights series with support from the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue.

Preparations for the 91st annual ACFAS conference are well under way at the University of Ottawa, which is hosting the event from May 13 to 17 2024. The Honourable Michelle O’Bonsawin, the first Indigenous Supreme Court of Canada justice, will be serving as honorary president of the event, whose theme is knowledge mobilization in French.

CiCi Moya (BA ’11) is no stranger to the public eye. As a digital content creator and event host, Moya has built a life that centres her love of storytelling, performance, and connecting with people. A graduate of 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ�’s Faculty of Arts with a major in psychology, Moya has also used her study of human behaviour to inform her acting.

Katie Green (BA ’05, Gee Gees Women's Swimming '03-'05) has always been good at spotting the opportunities around her. Her latest project, luxury knitwear company &Or Collective, fuses her years of experience working with global beauty and fashion brands with her desire to build a socially and environmentally conscious business.

Black History Month is a time to learn and reflect on past Black experiences and achievements, and to look to the future through the ongoing work and contributions of Black individuals making a difference in our society.

As 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� prepares to celebrate Black History Month and recognize leading figures at the third annual Black Excellence Gala February 3, we asked students and staff to recommend some lesser-known movers and shakers and ones to watch who also demonstrate the diversity and creativity of our community. 

She loves the polar regions, “the vast spaces where there are no answers, no paths, no trails,” and she loves ... calculated risks. But rather than be called “brave”, this explorer, mountain climber and risk management consultant by the name of Pascale Marceau (BScAp in Chemical Engineering ’99) prefers to be called “curious” and “tenacious.”

As we wrap up 2023, we look back at some of the memorable moments, remarkable milestones, and well-deserved recognition that the University of Ottawa experienced this year.
