In this edition of the Research Conversations Series, the publication of a special issue of the Education Review is an opportunity for discussion about concerns relating to socio-educational diversity, languages, and equity in majority and minority French-speaking contexts such as France and Canada.

Brahim Azaoui
Universit茅 de Montpellier
Brahim Azaoui is a lecturer in the didactics of foreign and second languages in the Faculty of Education, Universit茅 de Montpellier, attached to the LIRDEF. He is interested in issues of otherness and diversity from two angles: multimodality and plurilingualism. In his work, he studies the way in which educational actors (parents, pupils, teachers), whether allophones or not, mobilize their plurisemiotic repertoire to construct the meaning of exchanges, negotiate, and (re)define norms and their identities in the interactional process.

Francis Bangou
University of Ottawa
Francis Bangou is full professor in Second Language Education (French and English). His research focuses on the adaptation of second-language teachers and learners to unfamiliar teaching and Learning environments, and the implementation of digital technologies in second-language education. Professor Bangou earned his PhD in Foreign and Second Language Education at Ohio State University and joined the University of Ottawa鈥檚 Faculty of Education in 2007.

Marie-Pier Bastien
University of Ottawa
Marie-Pierre Bastien is a doctoral student in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa.
