Biography

Professor Sutton has been involved in the field of communication disorders since 1979. After working as a researcher and clinician, she completed her doctorate and joined academia as a professor at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al in 2000. Professor Sutton joined the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Ottawa in 2009 and retired in December 2023.

Professor Sutton is not accepting new students for thesis supervision.

  • Communication and language acquisition for individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication systems
  • Language and academic outcomes of diverse student groups (monolingual, bilingual, multilingual; with and without difficulties related to speech and language), in different language of instruction programs (English schooling, French schooling, French immersion)
  • Language development and disorders
