Linda McLean holds the University of Ottawa Endowed Chair in Women’s Health Research. She joined the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Ottawa in 2014, where she is a full professor, supervising graduate students from the schools of Rehabilitation Sciences and Human Kinetics as well as the and Population Health program, and the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Biomedical Engineering. She holds adjunct professor appointments at Queen’s University, Université Laval and the University of Alberta.

Professor McLean is accepting new students for thesis supervision.

• Women’s health (urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, motor dysfunction associated with pregnancy and delivery)
• Measurement of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular function (neurophysiology and biomechanics)
• Predictive models of successful rehabilitation outcomes

Linda McLean’s research program focuses on female pelvic floor function and pelvic health, particularly as they relate to aging, continence function and pelvic pain. Within this program, she develops new tools and methods to study pelvic floor structures and function, uses these tools to understand the mechanisms through which impairments develop and/or interventions are successful, and implements clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of conservative interventions. She has served as principal investigator on major research projects funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), holding a career funding total as PI exceeding $12 million. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and over 300 conference presentations at national and international conferences.
