Biography

Caroline Thibault has been an Assistant Crown Attorney for the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario since her call to the Ontario Bar in 1999. In addition to prosecuting many complex criminal cases, including several jury trials, she has distinguished herself through her in-depth knowledge of mental health law, Indigenous Law and language Rights issues.

Since 2006, Thibault has served as an instructor, and then co-director, of the French Language Institute Program, and since 2005, has served as a panellist for the Advocates鈥 Society. She is a lecturer at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, where every year since 2006, she has taught the Crown Attorney Assignment course. She has also taught the Mental Health Law course (2018) and the Advanced Criminal Law course (2018鈥2021).   Thibault is co-director of the Droit et tendances actuelles en droit criminel and the Art de la plaidoirie courses offered to Crown attorneys. She received the 91精品黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Law Excellence in Teaching Award for 2020鈥2021, as well as being named to the Ordre du m茅rite of the Association des juristes d鈥檈xpression fran莽aise de l鈥橭ntario, a distinction given annually to those who have made a significant impact on the French-language community in Ontario. Between 2019 and 2021, she was director of the , which is co-ordinated by the . Her work included implementing national initiatives to improve legal services in French. Thibault is currently the Crown attorney assigned to the Indigenous Peoples Court.
