Professor Emeritus Ed Ratushny invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada

, Professor Emeritus at the Common Law Section, has been invested as an Officer of the , a distinction awarded to those who have demonstrated an outstanding level of talent and service to Canadians.

Professor Ratushny was previously invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1991. This new investiture constitutes a promotion within the Order, recognizing sustained excellence and a long-lasting contribution to the nation. Specifically, Professor Ratushny has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to the field of administrative law, and for his leadership in sports arbitration and law.

The Order of Canada is awarded to Canadians deemed to have made significant contributions to any aspect of Canadian life.  As stated on the : 鈥淪ince its creation in 1967鈥擟anada鈥檚 centennial year鈥攎ore than 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order. The contributions of these trailblazers are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country. Their grit and passion inspire us, teach us and show us the way forward. They exemplify the Order鈥檚 motto: Desiderantes meliorem patriam.鈥

Professor Ratushny鈥檚 career achievements have previously been recognized by the Order of Ontario, an honorary doctorate from the Ontario Law Society, an honorary doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan, and a variety of other prestigious awards. He has also been the Canadian representative in legal events throughout the world.
