We have an exceptional relationship with the 5-year Royal College Program that is unparalleled. Residents in our CCFP-EM program are made to feel at home early on due to the friendly and inclusive FRCP resident group. With shared social activities, resources, and various educational activities, you will quickly feel welcomed into our Ottawa Department of Emergency Medicine family.
Our program is small with only 6 total training spots per year (5 anglophone, 1 bilingual) allowing for more focused attention and tailored learning opportunities throughout your training year.
Finally, Ottawa is an incredible place to live! It is a beautiful urban, multicultural city with great nightlife, fantastic restaurants and active music, arts and cultural scenes. There are more festivals in Ottawa than any city in Canada celebrating everything from poutine and beer to all musical genres. Ottawa is a city for the active as well with Gatineau Park only minutes away offering hundreds of kms of mountain biking/hiking and cross-country ski trails in addition to amazing road cycling. Within the city we have extensive biking/running/walking paths as well as beaches. In the winter you can enjoy skating on the famous Rideau Canal or cross cross-country skiing right in the city. We also have a half dozen ski hills within an hour of the city-centre. Our department is very active, and you can always find someone to join you in recreational activities.
Meeting the Program Director: If you are interested in our program, we will be hosting a program director Q/A in July and in August. Please contact our program coordinator, Kennedy Laing ([email protected] if you are interested in attending either of these sessions.
We look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
