Studying the world in the field

Placements, exchanges, and field research courses 鈥 we offer everything our students need to discover the world through their programs.

The Faculty has allocated approximately $146,000 to managing and funding activities abroad to benefit our students.

Field research courses

Field research courses take place every summer. Under the guidance of Faculty professors, participants venture abroad to delve into a problem in the host country and conduct supervised field research. Since the summer of 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these courses are offered online. Despite this, these courses provide a unique opportunity to meet with stakeholders on the ground, get to know the key organizations, and consolidate knowledge of research tools in the field.

In summer 2021, 72 bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 students will take part in one of the following  field research courses:

  • Germany 鈥 Germany 30 years after reunification: Revisit the Past, Experience the Present, Imagine the Future (Virtual graduate level course in English)
  • Brazil 鈥 Activism and Social Change in Brazil (online course in English)
  • Cameroon 鈥 Anthropologie des m茅decines (virtual course in French)
  • Canada 鈥 Transgresser les fronti猫res f茅ministes : les savoirs entre th茅ories et pratiques (virtual course in French)
  • France  鈥 Vivre ensemble et inclusion des personnes en situation de vuln茅rabilit茅 (virtual course in French)
  • Mexico 鈥 Les d茅fis des minorit茅s au Mexique  (virtual course in French)
  • Senegal 鈥 脡ducation et acc猫s 脿 l鈥檈mploi des jeunes 脿 l鈥櫭╮e num茅rique. Le cas du S茅n茅gal (virtual course in French)
  • Taiwan 鈥 Taiwan in the Global Political Economy of Care (virtual course in English)

International internships

Not only do international internships provide work experience abroad, but also they are credited courses designed to reinforce class learning.
Like field research courses, the Faculty sponsored undergraduate and master鈥檚 level international internships as distance courses. In 2019鈥2020, 45 bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 students completed an international internship:
Africa: 23
Asia: 13
Latin America: 9

Model United Nations Course

The Model United Nations assembly, which normally takes place in New York, was held in New York this year! In winter 2022, 23 91精品黑料吃瓜 students represented Australia as part of the Model United Nations Course, and together, their participation earned them an honorable mention. The 91精品黑料吃瓜 team received top mentions:  Distinguished Delegation,  Outstanding Position Paper ECOSOC - Economic and Social Council Plenary  and Outstanding Position Paper GA 2 鈥 General Assembly Second Committee
