The Faculty of Social Sciences is proud to celebrate the work of Véronic Delage, PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology, who co-authored the article that won the 2024 Best Article Award from the Canadian Journal of Experimental Psychology (CJEP).

Co-authored with Richard J. Daker, Geneviève Trudel, Ian M. Lyons, and Dr. Erin A. Maloney, the study titled explores how specific spatial reasoning skills are linked to certain mathematical abilities. By analyzing the results of 755 students on 10 distinct tasks, the research found that geometry acts as a bridge between mathematical and spatial skills—highlighting new avenues for educational innovation.

The award, granted jointly by the Canadian Psychological Association and the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Science, recognizes originality, theoretical contribution, methodological quality, clarity, and impact. Along with public recognition at CPA’s Annual Convention, the article is now freely accessible, and Véronic Delage receives a $1,000 prize.

This recognition reflects our Faculty’s commitment to research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real-world impact. Congratulations to Véronic and her co-authors!
