Where to Study?

Choose from 37 public areas spread across 14 floors of the "FSS", also known as the Social Sciences Building. Access the detailed floor plans for more information.

1^st floor

• 2 Student Lounges
• 1 work area with counters, stools and power supplies

2^nd floor

• Faculty of Social Sciences Library (FSS 2010) with on-site librarians
• 6 Group study rooms (FSS 2013, 2022, 2027, 2045, 2048, 2049) that can be reserved through the .
• 4 work areas with counters, stools and power supplies

3^rd floor

• 2 Student Lounges
• 4 work areas with counters, stools and power supplies
• Student Experience Centre (FSS 3023) where you can find a student mentor with whom you can discuss your studies and access useful resources on academic success. The Centre also offers a number of workshops, such as note taking, exam preparation and time management.

4^th floor

• 3 work areas with counters, stools and power supplies

5^th to 14^th floor

• Study areas with benches

• Access the 
• Student associations located on the 2^nd floor of FSS
• Printing and photocopying (Vanier Hall, 2^nd floor, room 2007) on the Relmon printer or use the photocopier
• Waiting room: While waiting for your appointment with a counselor or an academic assistant, you can access the comfortable lounge adjacent to the Academic Secretariat on the 3^rd floor.
• Hungry? Go to Première Moisson, which serves fresh hot meals, sandwiches, etc., as well as the vending machines on the 1^st floor of FSS.

The Social Sciences Building (120 University) or "FSS" offers a wide range of services and facilities to its students. Here are a few that you were perhaps not aware of:

Study rooms: 

As a Masters student, you have access to the following study rooms throughout the FSS building. See your department or school if you did not receive an access code.

Spaces for Ph.D. students: 

As a Ph.D. student, you have an assigned space in your department or school. Please see your department or school if you have not received confirmation of your space.

Services available

• Get your research started on site: Ask a librarian for help at the satellite library, the Faculty of Social Sciences Library, on the second floor of FSS.
• Visiting your student associations has never been easier: Student associations are located on the second floor of FSS.
• : Computer labs, located on the second floor of Vanier Hall (2008, 2015, 2025), can be used outside of class hours. They can be accessed by taking the bridge that connects FSS to Vanier.
• Printing and photocopying: Print your documents on the Relmon printer or use the photocopier located in room 2007 of Vanier Hall.
• A place to chat, share ideas and relax: There are several work areas with chairs, tables and counters with stools located throughout the Social Sciences Building.
• Hungry?: You can find Première Moisson, which serves fresh hot meals, sandwiches, etc., as well as vending machines on the first floor of FSS.
