When Wynn Quon (BSc ’82, MBA ’94) reminisces about arriving in Canada from the UK as a young child, he certainly remembers the cold and the record snowfalls, but books were also an important element that would later be key to his trajectory.

Mentors can leave a strong impression and profoundly impact our decisions. Such was certainly the case for Suzanne Faure (MEd ’84, PhD ’95) throughout her studies and career, and it’s why she intends to leave a legacy gift for the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa.

Dolores Young (MEd ’83) has led an adventure-filled life that combined international travel, learning about different cultures and love of education.

Family ties to the University of Ottawa run deep for Brian Henderson (MEd ’75) and Nicole Huggins (BHSc ’23). Both are interested in health and medicine, and also share similar values when it comes to giving back to their alma mater.

The constant hours of practice every day by multiple students are demanding on musical instruments. So, when an anonymous estate gift was made to the University of Ottawa’s School of Music, it was the perfect opportunity to replace the school’s inventory of aging pianos, many of them dating back to when it was founded in 1969.

Michel Prévost (MA [history] ’85, BA ’79, BSocSc ’78), 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� chief archivist for nearly 30 years, is undoubtedly one of the leading ambassadors of this university, which is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.

September 21 will mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Annemarie Desloges, a 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� health sciences alumna. Annemarie lost her life in a terrorist attack in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2013. She was 29 years old and was working as a diplomat with Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Marlene Patrick’s (BAdm ’79, BCom ‘80) fondest memories of 91��Ʒ���ϳԹ� stem from its bilingualism. Arriving at the University from a smaller, English-speaking community and wanting to study translation, she saw this as a great, inclusive opportunity.
