Prof. Marina Pavlovi膰 is Faculty member of the Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, at the University of Ottawa.
Professor Marina Pavolvi膰鈥檚 research focuses on consumer rights in the contemporary cross-border digital society and technology policy and regulation. Professor Pavolvi膰 was the lead counsel for the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic, as an intervener before the Supreme Court of Canada in and , and was a co-counsel in and She appeared before the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission in the 2016藯2017 Review of the Wireless Code. Professor Pavolvi膰 has also appeared before the House and Senate Committees and the Canadian Transportation Agency on Air passenger rights.
Professor Pavlovi膰 was appointed to the by the Ministers of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Canadian Heritage in 2018 and to an Expert Panel on by the in August 2020. Professor Pavlovi膰 has received the 2018-2019 APUO University of Ottawa , the 2018-2019 University of Ottawa Excellence in Education Prize, and the 2015鈥2016 Common Law Section Excellence in Teaching Award. She also received the 2017鈥2018 Common Law Section Public Engagement Award: Public Education and Outreach.
Prior to joining the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor in 2007, Professor Pavlovi膰 was a Gowlings Fellow in Technology Law in 2002. Professor Pavlovi膰 was an in-house counsel for a telecommunication company in Belgrade (Serbia), an of-counsel with a law firm in Salzburg (Austria), where she practiced in the area of international commercial arbitration and was a Part-Time Professor at the Common Law Section. Professor Pavlovi膰 holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade (Serbia), an LL.M with a concentration in Law & Technology from the University of Ottawa and is called to the Ontario Bar.
