Presented by the Chinese Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Mr. Cong Peiwu.Ambassador Cong is China鈥檚 Ambassador to Canada since 2019. A graduate from China Foreign Affairs University, he has held several positions within the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People鈥檚 Republic of China, including director-general. Before that he has served as minister-counsellor and minister within the Embassy of the People鈥檚 Republic of China in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Breaking the silence Conflict-related sexual violence: the role and impact of the United Nations
Every new wave of conflict brings with it a rising tide of human tragedy, including new waves of war鈥檚 oldest, most silenced and least condemned crime - sexual violence. The sharp deterioration of the peace and security context is causing immeasurable suffering to women and girls in conflict-affected countries. While the use of sexual violence as a tactic of war and terrorism is widely recognized, global efforts have failed to hold perpetrators accountable.From Myanmar to Ukraine to South Sudan, conflict-related sexual violence rages on around the world with impunity.
Join Under-Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, to discuss the evolution of her mandate since its establishment in 2009 as well as her strategic priorities in combating this scourge.

Join us for a conversation on the datafication of agriculture and the need for governance and regulatory frameworks to support social justice in the collection and uses of farm data.
The panel will discuss the state of data regulation in agriculture. What makes agriculture a potentially distinct site for digital data collection 鈥 i.e., environmental law, unpredictable (weather) conditions, costs, corporate players? How is it similar to other domains where discussions have been more extensive, such as social media and health data use? Is the much-heralded call for 鈥渙pen data鈥 or 鈥減ublic data鈥 the solution for confronted powerful data corporations, and does it equate to full information access and social justice more broadly?

Edited by professors Marie-France Fortin, Alexandre Lillo, 脡ric Champagne, Lauren Touchant and Thomas Burelli, this bilingual book consists of papers based on the national conference presented by the University of Ottawa鈥檚 Forum on Water Law and Governance. Written by experts in various fields of law and governance, these chapters address freshwater from Indigenous, municipal, international, ecosystemic, intergovernmental, and agricultural perspectives. It also provides considerations related to the institutional development of the Canada Water Agency.
