Funded by the University’s Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), one of the goals of the three-year   research project is to examine if and how public investment in digital agriculture serves biodiverse forms of farming. Design workshops will offer a space for engagement between farmers, technology developers and designers, policymakers and researchers to better understand if, how, and what kinds of (digital) technologies can best serve small-and-medium-scale farmers.

Diversity by Design
A 2021 research project led by 91¾«Æ·ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s Kelly Bronson, Canada Research Chair in science and society, and Mascha Gugganig, Alex Trebek postdoctoral fellow in artificial intelligence and environment, set out to explore how emerging agri-industry technologies might benefit small-scale farmers, as well as what the technologies’ limits are, and why.
