Their three-day advocacy trip to Ottawa consisted of meetings with key government officials, parliamentarians and advocates who share their vision for peace, justice, and human rights in Myanmar. In presentations at HRREC, they screened two documentaries about the current situation and their work. During the , leaders Yasmin Ullah and Noor Azizah called on the Canadian government for immediate attention and assistance for the Rohingya people as they confront escalating genocide in Arakan/Rakhine state and rising hate, exclusion and violence against Rohingya refugees – predominantly women and children – in South-East Asia.
