Scott Simon specializes in the political anthropology of indigeneity and indigenous rights in Taiwan. He explores conflicting political ontologies, with a particular interest in questions of political autonomy and rights to the management of wildlife. He has done ethnographic research with Truku and Sediq peoples since 2004. He has also recently done field research in Japan and Guam (Gu氓han). His book, , has been published by Presses de l'Universit茅 Laval.
