The Right to be My Older Self: A North-South Discussion on Long-Term and Palliative Care, Autonomy and Independence.
The LIFE Research Institute and ILC-Canada hosted a side-event at the Ninth United Nations OEWG on Ageing on July 24th, 2018 in New York City, entitled: 鈥淭he Right to be My Older Self: A North-South Discussion of Long-Term and Palliative Care, Autonomy and Independence鈥. This event was part of their efforts to outline an action plan for Canada鈥檚 involvement in the development of a UN Convention for the Rights of Older Persons. This initiative was possible with the gracious support from the Canadian Medical Association, le R茅seau FADOQ and Home Instead Senior Care.
Speakers from Canada, Brazil and Rwanda discussed the state of long-term and palliative care and the older person鈥檚 ability to control their autonomy and independence.
