Biography

Christine Dallaire studies sports and physical activity from a sociocultural perspective, with a particular focus on Canadian society, youth and communities. Her current project compares the experiences of young adults (18鈥25 years old) involved in sports leadership roles, including in the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, the Jeux de l鈥橝cadie and the Arctic Winter Games. She has also developed expertise on the role of sports in the discursive construction of francophone and Canadian identities among youth across the country at the Jeux francophones de l鈥橝lberta, the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne and the Jeux du Qu茅bec.

Professor Dallaire will not be accepting students for thesis supervision until 2026.

Research

Professor Dallaire is completing a large project titled 鈥淕iving Back to the Community,鈥 dealing with youth community engagement as leaders in sports initiatives, funded by SSHRC and the Sport Participation Research Initiative.


She is also the co-lead on an international collaboration (University of Ottawa, France and Denmark) focusing on the Arctic Winter Games, dealing with the themes of youth, culture and the Arctic environment. It is funded by the France Canada Research Fund, the Institut polaire fran莽ais Paul-脡mile Victor and the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
